I like purple but core does have a ton of filler imo

Hard to have filler when your entire band's existance has the appeal of a board of pressed wood

Lounge Fly is so good, can't imagine labelling that 'pointless'
'Unglued' is quite unique for STP too, and is good for injecting an uptempo tune into the mix

Purple has possibly the best hidden track ever

Scotty could sing the lad - could have been a B rate crooner instead of a wock n' woller
I don't mean that as a criticism but he wouldn't have been the next Sinatra

I wish they just cut the hidden song from kitchenware and candybars. The song is a terrible closer. It doesn't make sense to go from a song that tells the experience of an abortion to a joke song singing the success of having a second album.

They did leave about 20 minutes of dead air reflection for you rod
Perfect amount of time to either press the 'stop' button or 'move on' emotionally
I do sort of wish the 'dead air' was its own 'track' though for mixtape listening/scrobbling/etc

Haha! Dead and Bloated is THE most overrated STP song IMO. It's the retarded child of Alice in Chain's We Die Young and Three Little Pigs and antithetical to everything that makes STP actually great.
Lounge Fly is alright and I even kind of like the song, but it's clearly several steps below the 4 songs that follow it on Purple. Unglued is the biggest filler piece on Purple and sounds like a rejected cut from Core.

P.s: none of the hidden songs in albums of the 90's made sense though.
- Endless Nameless
- The gallons track in utero
- The typewriter thing in pearl jam's binaural
- Green day's all by myself
- Deftones bong in ATF
- The screaming track in Filter's title of record
- Tool's lotus experience in opiate
- The limp bizkit's outro in significant other

I think the concept of the 'hidden track' has eluded you - if they made sense in the context of the rest of the parent album they wouldn't need to be a hidden track :/

The outro of chocolate starfish is amazing though

Soundgarden for me is a "singles" band lmao - I never got into their full albums just a couple of songs here and there

Still Remains and Kitchenware and Candybars are my favorites off Purple.

Wow, Soundgarden are the opposite of a singles band to me.

'Purple is an improvement for sure and one of my favourite albums of all time, but Meatplow, Vasoline and Lounge Fly are all kind of pointless apart from introducing STP's new and improved musical template.'
But those are like three of the best songs on the record.

I know it's an overplayed single, but I think interstate love song is the best song from purple. It has one of my favorite choruses ever
