Thanks for the pos!

That would be a hilarious crossover. Have a character in the storyline meet Aaron West in their old age or something (if anyone even survives this damn storyline, though they recently said that every defeater release going forward will be part of this tale lol)

It's good but definitely not awesome. Lost Ground was heinously good, through and through, agreed. All the other albums just had a couple really memorable tracks. This album is almost consistently good, but its not that memorable. Srsly need a new story. Srsly need some evolution. When they did the perspective shit the first time, it felt really meaningful. It feels like a joke at this point. That's a damn shame.

Excellent review. Pos'd.

Thank you! Their last good release. They should just call it quits at this point tbh

Need to give this more listens, but I actually really liked this. Empty Days is probably my favourite album of theirs, but the two after that were incredibly lacklustre.

Hard to give this a pass when bands like Years Apart, Crafter, and One Step Closer are doing the style better.

This might be the only band that I check out every new release despite hating everything after Lost Ground. I delude myself into hoping for another Travels tier record.

I remember seeing these dudes with Touche Amore, All Teeth and a Black Flag cover band back in 09/10 at a warehouse in Riverside, CA with like 10 people in attendance. was fucking great. their shtick is kinda old, unfortunately :/

I remember seeing them in basement shows around that same time and it was the best. Amazing tunes, small and intimate crowds, beastly performance. Those were the days.

Thanks for the pos!

I saw them on the empty days tour in 2011 at a small venue opening up for La Dispute and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

If I had to rank their discog, it would probably go

Lost Ground>Travels>Empty Days>Defeater>Letters Home>>>Abandoned

Small correction to your intro: "it sure is easy to make FUN of them"

Well-written review, pos'd. I don't know if I'm gonna check the album out though, even if they get closer to the heights of their earlier work.
