While I don't see you 5ing this luci, I do think it will surprise you. Be sure to have patience with it though because the back half is stronger than the front. It took me several listens to appreciate how the first 4 songs set up the final 6.

Great review! I've spun it a lot when it came out. Serious contender for best rock album of the decade and my 2nd favorite of theirs

I did not expect a sowing 5, let alone a sowing review on this

I dig it

Aww lots of sad truths about burning through music faster than it can really sink in here. Your story is a pretty neat example of the way that albums that are meant to stick always have their way of coming back to you

On a huge mainstream rock kick right now. QOTSA, Foo Fighters, and Black Keys have been on constant rotation all weekend.

I really need to check more of their music out. I had SFTD back in the day and really liked it, but have only listened to scattered QOTSA tracks since. Seems this album would be a good one to check out next from what I’ve heard.

Nice review.

I found mainstream rock outside QOTSA to be pretty hard to get into for a while now(not sure why)

I started getting into Foo Fighters and enjoyed their debut

Foo Fighters can be good but are just so inconsistent. Their first three and Wasting Light (possibly their best) are all very good. Sonic Highways is mostly good. The rest are pretty blah. A few good/great songs and the rest entirely forgettable.

Like In Your Honor — the t/t and Best of You are great tracks, but most other tracks on it are bland and forgettable.

Wasting Light is by far the best FF in my opinion.

Great review sowing. I agree, I think this is their magnum opus and summates their entire catalog leading up to this.

Thanks JWT! This is one I often forgot about for years at a time but something clicked about a year ago and now it's so clearly a classic and I wonder how I didn't see it to begin with. Really defines what it means to slowly develop a relationship with a record, for me anyway.

Revisited this album a couple hours ago and found it quite a bit better than I remembered - was tempted to bump all the way up to a 4 but that would've been a full-point leap which I thought was maybe a bit much

Nonetheless, even the tracks I used to find flat (namely "If I Had a Tail") I found enjoyable this time around, and I've always adored the last four songs (the title track is maybe a top 50 song of all time for me)

Of course you write this right before I gave it another classic late night road trip jam (:

Don't know how I found my favorite album in the first 20 I ever listened to, but this is no doubt exactly that

Favorite band favorite album, "I Appear Missing" is my second favorite song ever behind "Wait."

Thank you for this review Sowing, it's wonderful
