I always prefer Solitude Aeturnus over Candlemass, their music is more varied compared to their Swedish peers.

Candlemass have always been overall slightly better and they were the originators (which adds a few points imo), but SA are a very close second. It doesn't surprise me that some prefer them over the swedes.
