Around late 2017-early 2018 is when I really started getting into them. I heard "Make Total Destroy" as far back as 2014 or so and couldn't stand it, but they grew on me as soon as I heard some of the more melodic cuts on P3.

Ah that's what I figured. Not trying to be rude or anything, but I kind of assumed that your love for PIII was predicated on having listened to that album first rather than being familiar with the band before PIII came out.

P1 falls below a 4 for me unless we're talking the instrumental edition. Only album of theirs where I prefer no vocals, Spencer was pretty damn rough around then.
