I did skim listen the end of the album, wasn't the last track a 20 minute stop start job. Is it one of the better moments here?



Have to be honest with some first time listens you're ascertaining if you'll listen again soon and then you start getting a feel about song writing comparison, quality etc. "hmm, this seems to be my favourite so far" type assessments, finding a way in to the album as a whole



Other times the overriding style dictates that the vagaries of song writing strength or differences in approach between songs hardly matter - in other words half way through you know the jig is up.



And 100% you are ready to rate a 1 (or 1.5 or 2.5) in that second circumstance.

He's in the chorus of "Hear Me". Tbh he's basically nothing but background noise and you can't really hear him except for like one second in the beginning of the second chorus. Though honestly, that's probably the best you could do for a Chad Kroeger guest spot.

By that logic, all avant-garde and prog metal are automatically exempt from low scores cos “it clearly isn't the very nadir of music as that rating would suggest” and a “lengthy, complex album”

I'm listening to the last song now - as was my skim listen assessment, it sounds like very bad space opera 'just sh't anything out' stuff



I'm sure it's an enthralling 'through the genres journey' for some but it sounds sort of stage-show'y....like someone should be performing magic to it, making an elephant in a glass box vanish or something like that
