It's nothing like Dark Souls.

It's basically the stealth of Tenchu mixed with the frenetic combat of Nioh, and the speed of Ninja Gaiden.

Ok, sounds interesting. I just thought it would be similar because of how everyone seems to associate it with Dark Souls.

Same studio, same director. Totally different product.

The game seems to be very good.

Soundtrack is great so far BUT i get annoyed with the battle music playing every time an enemy spots you. I would prefer it be purely subtly atmospheric and in boss battles.

Screw this game my controller just spontaneously broke into 3 separate pieces playing it.

As for the soundtrack, it's nice for what it is, but really didn't stand out as exceptional to me.

This game... Masterpiece. I definitely do agree with whoever said DS3 had a better soundtrack, otherwise this is From's best level and boss design ever. I have to say tho (SPOILERS) I'm really disappointed they took one of my favourite fights in the game and turned it into a reskin gank fight (Guardian Ape). Really glad I fought him for the first time in the Sunken Valley, his fight in the Ashina Depths was trash. Really lazy of them imo.

Great review btw, but you keep using 'it's' incorrectly.

Also I don't think this is as massive a departure from Souls as everyone is making it out to be. You can crouch, jump, and have that prosthetic arm which makes platforming fun for the first time ever in a Fromsoft game, but a lot of this is very similar to Souls, and I'm completely fine with that.

“With it's arrival” - with it is arrival?

“Sengoku Era and it's soundtrack is no different” – it is soundtrack is no different?

“each track has it's own style and identity” – has it is own style?

I'm cheap so I'm building an uchi build on ds1 and waiting for this to drop in price. Hype is huge and tough to resist

I’m loving how fast the combat is. Definitley my favorite FromSoft game and I’m only a few hours in. The aesthetic is jaw dropping. That first boss fight where you lose the arm was absolutley gorgeous.

haven’t played the game as much as I would like but i feel like what i’ve heard from the soundtrack does an incredible job of placing oneself in the game world

I'm with you WatchItExplode. I'm gonna wait on a budget price for this. It looks great and I'm sure it's different from Dark Souls, but since I was never huge into them it's still a little iffy to decide.
