"Sunday" would be the best song of their career if the sped-up drum beat continued during the final chorus.

only heard Sunday so far but it was surprisingly good. Doubt this will be anywhere near as good as Antidotes, but if it reaches Total Life Forever level I'd be content.

This is really good, Exits is a huge tune.

production is great, sound is great, synths and stuff are great but the songs are really boring, they just don't go anywhere.
i hoped that the singles would be the weakest tracks on the record but they turned out to be the best there

In Degrees and Syrups is a heck of a 1-2 punch but the album gets off to a rough start. Going to need to listen to this more but on initial impressions it's in the 3-3.5 territory

Admittedly this is getting slightly better after each listen - so my 3 may rise over time. I'm seeing them live in Thetford in a few months and I really hope they play Syrups, which is my favourite track off the album.

"On the Luna" and "Sunday" apparently came out of the recording sessions for What Went Down, interestingly enough.

Nuggets, I'm trying to get tickets for the thetford show because I live not too far away in Great Yarmouth. Syrups is on the setlist for the US tour, they tweeted it a while back. Hopefully it stays.
Ye ash I saw that NME track-by-track. That's interesting though because OtL sounds like it belongs on Holy Fire and Sunday on Total Life Forever lol

yea sepia I can kinda see what you mean with "On the Luna" possibly fitting in with Holy Fire. then again What Went Down was written while touring for Holy Fire so the material on the two has a kind of sisterhood I think.
also you remind me I need to watch some of those track-by-track vids and such because I'm trying to get every tidbit of information about Part 2 even though it's months away but the anticipation is already quite up there lmao

i hope part two will be just as good as part 1. They've said countless times part 2 is the heavier one, but What Went Down is probably my least favourite Foals album since Holy Fire is really starting to grow on me, so I hope it doesn't sound like a copy of WWD. They track-by-tracks are really good. I tend to watch them for all my favourite artists so having one pop up for Foals was nice.

Only three songs on WWD could be described as heavy

this grows on/off me every other day...the vocalist kind of bothers me but the song structures are really interesting

You gotta jam Total Life Forever, it's by far their best. What Went Down is really great too.

What Went Down is their worse imo. My favourite changes between Total Life Forever and Holy fire, both are top albums.
