This reminds me a bit of Bowie doing Hours - a chameleon trying to squeeze into a skin that relies too much on authenticity to have an impact

I agree the sentiments are not wholly genuine however I think the execution and composition make up for that.
My 4.5 is probably a bit high though, I rarely listen to this anymore and it's always a bit underwhelming compared to how I remember it when I do. You really have to be in the mood for this one to enjoy it fully.

This is exactly how I feel so far, only I don't think the wrapper is that remarkable either... the pathos isn't there, and the sounds themselves are nothing spectacular. Indie folk with decent strings, big whoop
