My favorite Nas album. I can listen to this over and over and not get tired of it.
The Message and Take It In Blood are two of his best for sure.

Whenever i see reviews of It Was Written, even ones written as well as this, i cannot help feeling that it is more criticised than it should be. This album seems to be grossly underrated, just because it doesnt live up to the giddy heights of Illmatic. If this was recored before Illmatic, or if it was made by a completely different artist, i'm sure it wouldn't receive half as much scrutiny as it does now. That said- this album isnt flawless, but if you ask me, it is very close to it. Suspect and Affirmative Action are my favourites.
