Is this really as good as Sput has been hyping? If it's anything like Finisterre then I am very interested.

It’s not, they’re not even comparable but they’re equally awesome lol. Actually Finisterre is better but this is amazing too.

I wouldn’t say they’re not comparable but Finisterre is definitely more suffocating overall whereas this one is more serene at times. This album actually features some members from Der Weg Weiner Freiheit I believe! They collaborated a bit for this record

Idk maybe it’s just me but this felt like a mixture of something more relentless like Finisterre mixed with something Agalloch would do in their prime. That closer in particular gives me strong Agalloch vibes and is soo good

I love the serene vibe big time. I'll definitely have to give this some love. Would you say Alcest serene or just less crushing than Der Weg or TGOO?

It's got a lot more post-rock elements, I find it more similar to something like Harakiri for the Sky than Der Weg. It doesn't have that Alcest dreamlike sound. More post-rock than gazey.

Also personal preference, while I think this is quite good, I don't enjoy it as much as Finisterre

Still gotta check Harakiri for the Sky

Hope you enjoy this, pjquinones! I see your 4.5 for Falls of Rauros’ latest album. Tbh that album probably would have been a better comparison

I don’t like Falls of Rauros at all sadly, they bore the fuck out of me. Haven’t jammed any Harakiri yet either, should prob get on that.

It’s so perplexing to me that you don’t dig them Hawks. Vigilance Perennial and A Light that Dwells In Rotten Wood are two of my all-time favorite post bm albums

Yeah it upsets me too because I’ve tried many times but they just do nothing for me. :[

Forgotten Paths is more interesting, in my opinion

Will check that one when I can cause it looks really good. There's no intention on these guys to go folk or celtic I think. My fave from Downfall is Suffocating in the Swarm of Cranes, if you enjoyed this one.

Damn I love these 2 records. Their whole discog is awesome as they've always morphed and evolved their sound with each release
