^I agree. Gets better with each listen.

Yeah this has been growing on me hard. But honestly surprised how many are digging this more than Air. Both are stellar but I still think Air nails the sound more and brings more tasty riffs and blasts which brings it all together for me.

this is better than air and is a hard growerrrrrr

I heartily agree with icatch, I keep jamming both back to back and still feel that what they had in Air was more special, and here they washed it out.

tbh i think here they streamlined it and cut the fat here. this is exactly how i wanted air to sound.
but to be honest i think that both records are so good i wouldn't take issue with anyone who thinks air is better, my above comment was very facetious, haha.

Agreed 100% with that Noctus.

Casey should revive Vattnet and do a split with Astronoid as a weird unnecessary evolutionary showcase

I think that might be my issue with this Noctus, I actually liked the fat. Air sounds so stuffed and hefty, I could feel this is a band with 3 guitarists. With this one I don't feel it. Don't get me wrong though, I still love this one, dem godly melodies.

I was wondering if Mike leaving had anything to do with it. He joined after the EPs and left after Air so part of me thinks he had a big role on the sound of the debut. That said, I don’t know whether he stuck around or not for the recording of Astronoid.

cool, thanks for posting. Interesting to hear because to me it sounds pretty great, but I've heard nothing but opinions on how bad these guys sound live.

Yeah they’re pretty bad tbh. Hopefully this upcoming tour they got the live mixing right

I keep hearing The Myth of the Bad Live Mixing on the Tesseract/Plini Tour, but it was false for me. In Edmonton we had a great-sounding show. Nothing muddled, everything clear. Best first impression of an unknown (at the time) band live.
Then I saw them again in November in an old Freemason's hall, which was shit for sound, and I could still discern everything clearly and it sounded good. I guess I'm lucky.

its cool to make that "breathe in breathe out" exercise.
I think I'm getting there X) The bass is indeed great throughout

Really enjoyable stuff, but like many blackgaze (or whatever this shit is called) albums, the songs all kinda sound the same imo

bloc how am I supposed to recognize you with a new avatar
I tried this again last night. Bumped to a solid 3 but I still have the same grievances and this hasn't gotten leaps and bounds better in my eyes.
I'm 100% ok with a big samey album because Air did that and it worked so well. Starting to think that was just because of the exciting momentum that's lost here with all of the slower songs and meandering pace of the vocals.
