It’s pretty good so far, I appreciate that JID is actually a competent rapper unlike most of the popular stuff these days. At the end of the day Rowan-core is generally a lot better than mumble rap, even if it’s still not quite the future for hip-hop that I’ve been craving

Did you get a chance to dive into Conway at all?

I’ll do it right after this. I’m starting to come to the conclusion that I might just be a bit too old for this new gen of hip hop. The rapping is perfectly competent, the production is great, but there’s still just this sort of weird inexplicable disconnect. Like I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this new JID album but I still probably will never listen to any of it ever again. It just doesn’t feel like it was ~made for me~ if that makes sense.
I feel like if I was younger and still had that lifestyle of my early 20s it might be different
Edit: I have one bad thing to say and that’s that money is a bad song and doesn’t fit on the album at all

Actually I’ll probably listen to sistanem and stars a few more times

Those two ended up in my playlist, but I honestly liked everything else aside from Money. I just dont know what circumstance I’d listen to the whole album again and I didn’t quite feel like putting anything else in my playlist

I think I’d appreciate the catchiness of it if it didn’t interrupt the flow so badly. It seemed like such a jarring placement. When it started I wondered if the album had ended and Spotify had started shuffling his other tracks lol. And I thought the cohesiveness and narrative feel of the album was otherwise a strength of the album which made that choice all the more odd

New one is way better than this IMO, this is mostly braggadocio bars and super hype beats which is fun but it doesn’t have a crazy amount of replay value bc of that

Upon a few listens I feel like the highs on this one are better than on forever but as a whole forever is better and more consistent with a lot of bangers.
Jid's flow and versatility is just nuts tho, really appreciate have this guy around
