I think the issue here is not in the writing (lyrics seem pretty solid across the board) but rather in the execution; most of the songs are pretty nondescript musically and even melodically I find a lot of the songs just decent. And I rarely find that Phoebe and Conor harmonize in a particularly interesting way. I like the bookends a lot though, fwiw.
