can't decide on 3.5 or 4. A couple weaker tracks in the first half

Female folk/rock singer/songwriters who try to make synth/art pop is probably my least favorite genre so I’m approaching this with major trepidation.

I absolutely understand that but there are serious production chops here that lift it up above the norm and it still has THAT voice and her sense of uncomfortable intimacy, if you're a fan I think you'll still love it

On first spin, didn’t like any of the first half. Second half was a bit better though. Can already tell this is a major letdown.

Yeah I hated this at first but once I warmed up to the change in sound it wasn't hard to see her emotional throughline is still there

I’ll try to keep an open mind with repeat spins but I don’t really see this growing on me much.

Gosh damn, this album just pulls you in. You definitely have to buy into its jaggedness, though.

I hate to say it but I'm really not feeling too much of this. Seventeen might be the best song she's ever written but very few other tracks even made an impact on me. Maybe a 3-3.5 at best right now, assuming it continues to grow.

nah man, this is really consistent imo. I really dig the production and atmosphere it went for.

I like how this was expected to flop and James Blake was an AOTY contender and the final results were the exact opposite

no subpar tune here

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more buzz around the new Deerhunter album. Maybe because it leaked like a month ago?

"I’m surprised there hasn’t been more buzz around the new Deerhunter album. Maybe because it leaked like a month ago?"

That coupled with the misconception that they've been long past their prime, mainly because they haven't made (and refuse to) make another Microcastle or Halcyon Digest. I'd argue the new one is their best since HD.
