warming up to this a lil bit

This is kind of interesting, instead of taking the route of most metal bands that venture into prog or incorporate different styles of extreme metal into their mix, Soilwork has included more old stadium rock and hair metal influence on this album. In the production and chord choice they've gone for a very uplifting and light sound.
I don't know how much I would really come back to listen to this, but its generally pretty well executed.
Doesn't touch TLI or TRM but still is better executed than a number of their older albums.

Some of the guitar solos on this album are really, really great.

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but you're right. It kind of has classic rock sensibilities throughout. It never goes as heavy as I want, nor do I find the choruses to be any fun, but it was a good listen.

Too much of that rock influence for a Soilwork album

She's on my copy fortunately, but it's kinda ass that this was done under the radar.

There's something that makes me keep coming back to this, despite the mastering being brickwalled as hell. You kinda loose the subtleties like some extra guitar layers or some keyboard parts, but man it still delivers this super flashy stuff with ADD blasts and trems with some pretty catchy vox on top.
