American Idiot opened up a new world for me, without it I never would have found Enter Shikari, Dance Gavin Dance, Jimmy Eat World, Alexisonfire, or indeed The 1975. Although some of the credit I have to give to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, that and American Idiot started my emo phase I guess, which is when I really started getting into a lot of stuff I'm into today. Before then, Korn and Three Days Grace were all I listened to

With respect to its impact on pop culture, American Idiot fucking sucks, and this is infinitely better musically.



Not their best work, but still really solid. Mine is the worst track. Calling it a pop album and nothing more, nothing less is very reductive and inaccurate but...who cares? Still think ILIWYS is better, but I think this one is more coherent with its ideas, and that's why people prefer this.

^while im not a huge fan of this album by any means, it is a masterpiece compared to EN. EN may be the worst album of the decade so far.

Also, yes, can’t believe American Idiot is 15 years old. I remember it being one of the first albums I put on my first iPod. It’s scary how fast time goes.

Despite not being wild about this, I think the summary is pretty damn inaccurate. This definitely isn't "A batch of quality pop songs – nothing more, nothing less." - there's like a shit ton of instrumental interlude things, that Siri voiced, thing, etc.

The butthurt reaction by some people to this LP is hillarious. I've seen this beeing called the "worst album of all time" so often in the last 48 hours.

It’s not the worst of all time.

It might be the worst mainstream release of the year which isn’t bad going when you consider ‘Dirty Computer’ and the new Muse also came out.
