I like to pretend that The Smashing Pumpkins broke up in 1999 and never got back together

i look at Smashing Pumpkins pre-Machina & post-Machina as 2 separate entities, honestly

Thinking a band's magnum opus was "awful" then listening to a record that was already getting shat on by a good portion of actual fans must be quite an experience

It was for sure

Their first 4 are their real oeuvre. Everything else is average to bad

Machina has at least a couple great songs

Stand Inside Your Love and Age of Innocence come to mind

As stated above by Extinguish there are two 'top quality tier' SP tunes on 'Machina' - Age of Innocence and Stand Inside Your Love

I also quite like Wound and the two ballads 'Try Try Try' and 'With Every Light' even if they're a bit fluffy round the edges

The rest is split between ok filler and terrible experiments

the opener on Machina is pre bad though

like a 'turn it up to 11 - it's one louder' retread of the infinitely superior Zero

Siamese > Mellon Collie > Adore > Oceania > Gish > Machina II > Zeitgeist > Machina I > Monuments > this

This review is overly praising and this album is shockingly bad.

Machina is a great album, just a bit overlong and a few clunkers like Heavy Metal Machine.

Strizz you have Machina WAAAY too low. And Oceania too high (though I do like it).

Yea, my final legacy to this piece-of-shit site. This was one of my favourite sites of all time. I had a lot of different friends that shared the same music as I liked, but more and more assholes joined the site and my friends got banned or the simply quit visiting the site Feel free to create multiple user-accounts to flame me and this review. I don't fucking care anymore. I'm done with this site. God-like thanks to South_Of-Heaven_11, Shadows, Cravinov_13, Silent_Echo, BallsToTheWalls, Rattlehead and a few others. I hope that you will have a good life ahead of you, but this is my final farewell... Thank you Sputnik music for giving me the opportunity to discover new music and friends... metal will always stand tall m/ m/
