I disagree, the album is a tedious bore.
the review is decent, though.

One of the year’s best indeed, though it took me a while to see past the first few tracks. My second favorite Low album I’ve heard so far.

I Could Live in Hope, Things We Lost and this are probably the only three truly essential Low albums and span all their respective sounds (as Things We Lost also has a couple of 'rockers' on it)

There's a lot of decent stuff scattered around those three landmarks though

I like long division and Curtain Hits the Cast better than I Could Live in Hope.

Haven't really enjoyed much Low past Trust, so not sure if I'll check this.

The only two Low albums I've jammed so far are I Could Live in Hope (perfect bleak album for late night listening) and this one, which I find very chilling and interesting since I love this kind of ambient electronics. I guess I should start to explore the rest of the discography right?

band has had some great tracks through their albums.. but a full-length from them is always a long-ass snooze.. playlist band..

Doof I’ve been working my way chronological up to Things We Lost and it’s been steadily decreasing quality with each album. Things We Lost is up next for me so I’m hoping I’m not too fatigued with their style to enjoy it. Not sure whether I’ll keep going past that, though I’ve seen some people rate The Great Destroyer and C’mon so I may try those.

Nero I’d say try this, it seems both casual and mega fans are loving this and it’s in a completely different style than those first several albums.

Things We Lost is where they got slightly more diverse and added some ‘near-rockers’ so you’ll be ok with it Boney, def don’t skip that one

Oh yeah I definitely won’t skip that one, it’s a question of whether I’ll check anything else in their discog past it.

always trying to work it out is one of my fav songs of the year but rome is creeping up there too. would definitely love to see them continue with this kind of instrumentation to see what else they can come up with.

The first three are their best imo, especially ICLIH and The Curtain.... After that they plateau at a 3.5 for me. Still have yet to hear the three before this though. Things We Lost is a little overrated.
