Yeah, basically this album is super disappointing. Not as intense and AOGHAU, pretty samey for their standards even. I feel like they jumped into this too quickly. Doomsday was a great song to hold over, but they should have taken more time to figure themselves out after this huge loss and then write a new album.

I don't think the pared-back intensity is the problem. It's the all-too-conventional structures that make this a worse offering than their last two. Also, some people I know get so butthurt that I expected it to be worse than the last two and it ended up actually being so. LOL.

@Storm: I'm talking in other communities, especially "Disliked/Unpopular Metal Opinions" on Facebook. Fuckin' haha reacts and butthurt because I don't think it's better than AOGHAU lol. You'd think an "unpopular opinions" group wouldn't get hostile because someone actually fulfilled the purpose of it... lol but they're just as tribalistic as any other metal group.

Listening to Devil's Island and then a track off this back to back reveals how utterly shit this band has become.
