Sans the conventional "songs" and a few of the more developed instrumentals this basically just serviceable ambient soundtrack stuff, would earn a 2.5-3. Probably they work better in the context of the movie but without that context most of this isn't terribly worth repeat listening.

pretentiousness aside, it’s not really a film for mainstream audiences tbh

There’s been some great horror movies this year but this might be the best, or at least the most interesting.

Since we're talking about horror soundtracks, everybody immediately go listen to the Cannibal Holocaust soundtrack. For such a shitty, overrated movie, the soundtrack is gorgeous. The opening theme alone, is brilliant.
Both movies were made by Italian dudes. Suspiria is the superior movie but still. It's a great soundtrack if you haven't heard it. There's something extremely sad about it.

"haven't heard this but i can't imagine it being better than goblin's score for the original "

yeah that main CH theme is awesome
but it mostly makes me feel super weird, mostly because the theme plays during that ‘end’ scene..

"in the US you sound like a pretentious fuck if you say film."
So much this. Hate it when people say film
|
| |
I say film for some things. Never thought about it but really it's because sometimes it feels like an insult to call films with some depth ''movies'' it just doesn't feel right. When I hear the term movie I think about a bunch of morons at a movie theater talking and ignoring the movie/trying to feel up some chick.

| |
Here in the US it's only toolbags who are trying to act sophisticated that say film. Everyone else here says movie. If film is the normal term in other countries im fine with those people using it. It mostly just annoys me when americans say it

Loved the movie love the soundtrack. Luca slapped the stupid out of the original film but kept the important essential elements.
Also @brainmelter I enjoyed hereditary as well

Also pretty sure most people use film/movie interchangeably and arent trying to sound pretentious, seems like a silly hang-up imo

fact: getting hung up on people using film/movie interchangeably is a sign of weak genetics

How enlightening

Hyped to see the film, soundtrack also sounds promising.
I've heard this new adaptation is pretty long? Hopefully it can justify its runtime.

I'm surprised how much I like this. I thought I would be bored by two disks and expected to edit it down to the vocal tracks. Turns out I like the atmospheric tracks. A Choir Of One is a favorite. It's a nice homage to the Alien and 2001 soundtracks.

so this is a soundtrack? album? is it good?

Wait, this is a good movie? That two and a half hour run time to a simple story, 6 acts and mixed reviews, talks of random political subplots that didnt connect to anything (in a fucking horror movie) had me very worried.

It's not really a horror movie tbh. And you'll just have to see it and decide for yourself, it's far enough on the art-house side of things that it was always naturally going to be divisive. Depends entirely on your personal tastes.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but it's going to be impossible to top Argento's classic.
