Lol I literally didn't even know this band added Josh and they still sound the exact fucking same.

It's actually surprising how similar this sounds to past work considering that fact.

Why even bother this is like when Erak got added to Chiodos.

This album probably wouldn't have the same weight it does emotionally to so many if they had radically changed their sound. And Holy Hell sounds a considerable amount different, but most of it has to do with Sam's vocals and the song structures.

I don't think some people realize exactly what Tom meant to the band.
He composed all of their songs and most of their lyrics. In many ways he was Architects, the rest of the band (which includes his twin brother on drums) were just along for the ride. Its not like they just lost someone who played guitar and replaced him with someone else.
For people that aren't fans of the band I can see why its dismissed as boring metalcore and just them playing it safe. But anyone thats followed them knows how hard it must have been to write this album; not only are they making their songwriting debuts but bearing their soul for everyone after tragedy. It was brave of them to make this and I'm proud to be able to continue to support them.

Why did they not do more tracks like Seventh Circle? That song was such a standout

I've played this album at least 4 times thru and can only count like 3 or 4 memorable riffs.

This review pretty much captures how I feel as well. It's more or less the same as their past few records but I guess that's pretty much the point. The Seventh Circle goes hard. For sure raised an eyebrow. Nice work.

Album is pretty good but more of the same.
I was hoping for something different because of Josh.

@Kenbo I have a feeling that this album was supposed to be All Our Gods 2 (or LFLT 3) as an end of Tom's journey and the direction he took the band in... I assume that if they have a new release in 2 years its going to sound very different
But honestly I like this even if it is a step back and I've enjoyed all their material, if this whole album sounded like the singles and Seventh Circle it would be a 5 to me

'I’m ready for the new Sylosis album now'
It's been too bloody long T.T
'Lol I literally didn't even know this band added Josh and they still sound the exact fucking same.'
That's the biggest disappointment for me, I expected them to more or less stick to the same formula, but just have bit and pieces where it's obvious that Josh has brought something to the record, but you just don't hear him being him at all other than a the 1 minute and 49 seconds Seventh Circle lasts for. Plus like how Deathbat keeps talking about in how the song structures are so much more simple than on AOGH makes it a disappointing listen.
I might drop my rating tbh : (
