I'm not just referring to you dude, I'm drawing from a shit ton of comments of people specifically saying "I just don't like comedy in my music" which is a common trend here that I have never heard anywhere else.

I think with music websites like this they feel that comedy duos and music are low hanging fruit and an illigetimate genre like pop.

There are some pretty damn good musical moments on this album. I'd like to hear some more stuff from The D in the same vein as the track 'DADDY DING DONG'. Pretty funny at times and, as standard, they put a lot of effort into the actual performance of the songs/skits. Skits aren't the best they've ever put out, but some of them are really good. Not all the songs are classics and you can tell it's pretty low-effort fun overall but part of the charm of this band is that they just don't really give a fuck anyway.

*gives it a 5.0*

It's clearly a symbolic 5. A display of support for a project that means a lot to me on a thread where it isn't really getting any.

humour is subject like everything, and this kind of comedy gets old fast -- especially when they've been playing the same joke for like 20 years

Of course humour is subjective, and that fact is a great thing for society and the concept of comedy as a whole. But it seems disingenuous to insinuate that this band's '20 year history' has been one repeated joke, as if they've been a constant musical force when realistically they'd released a total of 3 albums up until a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not saying this is particularly good. In many ways it's pretty damn disappointing, but let's keep it genuine.

You want to keep it genuine, but don’t want to admit that it’s only dick jokes set to music and want to cry foul when people rate it poorly. This album might be slightly better than Pink Season if only because JB and KG are adept at their instruments. The entire album is frenetically paced, unnecessarily vulgar, and the plot is schizophrenic.
You want to keep it genuine, but give them an honorary 5? Who’s not being genuine here? Why does Tenacious D need your favor? They’re extremely well paid musicians, and frankly, capable of better. This is lazy.
I’ve heard their best album, their first one, numerous times— it’s not a five, but it was memorable and pretty well written and came out at just the right time to be culturally significant. This album, Post-Apocalypto, isn’t any of those things and certainly not worthy of being defended. It really is that bad; the ratings here are not a malicious conspiracy against the band as badly as you want it to be the case.

"unnecessarily vulgar"
Jesus, what a fucking bore.

imagine giving an album you deem "disappointing", let alone one with a song called fuckin' "Daddy Ding Dong", a 5 out of 5 just because you don't like the reception it's getting.
what a joke

imagine taking music ratings that seriously in the first place.

“imagine taking music ratings that seriously in the first place.”
You’ve rated 2300 albums; you’ve obviously taken a bit of time and consideration into the importance of rating music, so try not to act like you’re above it please.
Particularly on a forum that discusses rating music.

rating albums is different than taking things seriously. You could rate 10,000 albums and not take it seriously. For me personally, I just rate an album based on enjoyability, I don't sit down and analyze every piece of it and decide the "perfect" rating. He's just listened to a lot of albums, not necessarily taken the time to breakdown each on into a rating based off of importance and such.

I get so much fun from their music videos and the movie but listening to the music itself, less so.
