Mmmm I guess I should try this. Only heard Everything Was Sound by these guys, thought it was just okay.

Maybe it's just a matter of giving them another chance...

If that was only okay, I'm not sure if you'll like this.

I’m not comparing them to other metalcore bands. This just sucks as music

New Amity Affliction isn't that bad.

It's not GREAT, but it didn't piss me off at any point other than the cringey "CHUUU GLASSSSS" hook

I really wanted to like this... In theory, the ambient passages, the "tappy" metalcore and the historical references should have made a monster of an album.

In reality, unfortunately, the execution falls completely short: risecore-bad clean vocals, overbearing edgy lyrics, and totally compressed sound (the guitars lack any sort of punch).

Forced and fake is how I would describe this.

Yeah this is pretty close to risecore, especially the godawful cleans. I really don't see how the band thinks they are decent and add ANYTHING to their music. I respect the band but the vocals just ruin the potential this band has

so why are you giving it a 4.0 then

this is just a half step away from great stuff like greyhaven most of the time, but greyhaven is also on the Precipice of what i can fullheartedly enjoy.

but then the godaweful cleans come in in the chorus.

Genuinely hate metalcore but until the cleans come in this is great then its dreadful because he can't sing and you cant pretend you don't hear the lyrics either

I don't mind cleans if the melody is strong and continues the momentum of the song rather than halt it. No song on here accomplishes that.

more often than not, the cleans are clearly forced, so that’s what doesn’t make this album perfect for me, but everything else is fine to me
