I'd probably listen to more thrash metal like my dad did, which I do just not as much as other genres, sooo nothing too wild.

It's not even their most straight forward and honest, that's literally the three albums before this.

It wouldn't ruin my reality, but I'd probably be listening to way more Escape the Fate than I already do.

ahem, did you not read any of the interviews? They weren't as honest, the albums were a total struggle for them to craft. They're not all that straightforward either, they're layered within a ton of symbolism and brilliant complexities.

It's not hard to interpret any Underoath album fam, sorry to break it to you.

Also have you seen the interviews where they vehemently defend this album to the point of comedy? It's like they know this album sucks and are trying to convince themselves otherwise.

I've seen most of them. It's a different style, it's more palatable than other works. That doesn't make it better, as the three prior albums ARE better than it, but it took a LOT of time for me to appreciate them for what they were. When I first listened to Define the Great Line, I thought Aaron sounded too whiny for me even.

yeah whats not honest about Lost in the Sound and Disambiguation? they both deal with a lot of Spencer's struggles with addiction and mental health

@Cormano: He was clearly not as healthy mentally, neither were the other guys. The power struggle may have brought us masterpieces, but did you really want them to stay in that rut forever? You gotta break out sometime...

Disambiguation was as far as they could push that boundary, so it's possible an album like this could've been made in 2012-2013.

In response to those who've said this release is a grower: Erase Me depreciates faster than a timeshare plagued by a neighbouring community of giant, sentient spiders who’ve only ever read Machiavelli and Rand.

@jpaul Agreed, I didn't hate it as much on first listen but the more I listened to it the more I started to dislike it.

I wasn't too huge on it until I bought the Target edition a couple weeks after release. It sure as shit did grow on me, I get it if it wears off on you though. Same shit happened to me with Hard Feelings.

Hard Feelings was trash the second they released the first single lol

Maybe Underoath can channel all the backlash from this album and make a great album next time.

some artists just write better music when they're at their lowest, other times they're at their best when they've either started their road to recovery or are finally healthy and happy with their lives

within a span of 8 years of trying to rebuild themselves they completely forgot how to write good music

@Kenbo: If their response is anything like Kamikaze, it's likely Sput will shit on it anyway despite the obvious improvements.

@Snake: Or maybe they're just not as good with direct and simple writing as they are with albums like LITSOS. Also, what are you referring to with Chamberlain not being well mentally still?

I think the fact this was the album that got me to look further into them led me to still hold it in high regard.
