The reason I don't see this as 1 material is entirely due to the fact that despite how derivative and unnecessary it is, this album is still completely listenable. A tad bland, yes. But nothing -- I repeat -- NOTHING -- that's simply generic and bland deserves less than a 2 or 2.5 imo.

If an album gets a 1.5 or a 1 from me, it pissed me off more than one time during its run.

Ah i just cant take any score less than 2 seriously. No credibility at all.

You just lose all scope in your arguments with such a ridiculously low score (and it is ridiculous) - ok so the influences may seem overt, but so much other stuff out there only disguises the fact they are clones as well better, - the scores cant be taken seriously because its clear its your prejudices overshadowing everything and just its pretty absurd.

ok ,Its not worth a 4 either, but someone has to give it some credit so the average isnt unjust .

In reality its probably in all seriousness a 3 for me.

Age of Man is a great tune.

These are young guys too, they'l find their own sound more in time.

also shout out to user with a hundred comments going off about credibility whilst praising the most derivative and unoriginal and yawnworthy album of this decade at least

and quit the 'they're young' shit - chon were like 16 when they recorded their demo and that slays, saying their young as if by virtue theyll get better means you end up hyping shit like the strypes, and now look who remembers them? no one, they were shit, their music was shit, and despite all the cries of bringing back real rock while thier young by blatantly copying popular acts they had no idea how to write an original song to save their lives

these guys will be exactly the same, only for some reason they've managed to capture some kind of decent internet following despite their overbearing mediocrity

@Sin: I get what you're trying to say, but some albums legitimately pissed me off and were borderline unlistenable.

This isn't unlistenable at all, it's a bit bland and I doubt it'll last beyond a few years unless they really start working on their craft and finding their own sound, but it's not awful. 1.0 and 0.5 imply awful to the point of unlistenability/seething rage.

This is Kenny G with guitars. It's only one step above Rebecca Black, imo.

And forget about Chon. Robert fucking Plant was the same age as these joker's when Led Zeppelin I was released. Jimmy Page was only 2 or 3 years older. Age has nothing to do with it. These guys are manufactured popstars through and through.

Good review. Far from the point of the review, but no way Nu-Metal was the last time heavy music progressed or evolved, that could not be farther from the truth. Unless you mean rock music and not metal, but even then...

Yeah, obviously music is always evolving, but NU-metal was just insane for its no holds barred approach to blending anything and everything with heavy metal. The point I was making however, was that it was the last time mainstream audiences and labels ate up heavy music in spades.

This band is the musical equivalent of a MAGA hat.
