Daughters is much more polished and focused.
Not saying unpolished music can’t be good, but Child Abuse just sounds like four (talented) different people playing four different songs.

eh i get that criticism... I feel it's way more fun, tho.
i don't like self-serious music most of the time, and they sound like way more talented people having way more fun.
I like that.

Description of "Child Abuse":
"Child Abuse my beige ass, this is listener abuse. Of all the records I’ve ever listened to or reviewed, none caused me the actual physical painand discomfort I experienced while enduring this assault. Unlistenable and downright migraine inducing, I cannot in any way recommend this toanyone other than professional torturers who seek to add a new form of torment to their inhuman bag of tricks. Seriously, this is the auralequivalent of a root canal."
Now I'm hooked.

Tried them. Cool parts here and there but otherwise I think they are weird and noisy for weirdness' sake. I imagine "Child Abuse" being in some cellar, totally stoned playing some instruments. Until someone comes up with "hey guys, I got an idea, let's add this part in between it" *plays some nonesense while the others are about to pass out and don't remember a second after that what he just said* - "yeah man, that rules"

it's noisy for FUN's sake... smh when did music need to make sense. Jazz definitely not your jam, eh.

Nah, it was a joke. Actually, most of the vocals kinda annoy me there. I am not doing that much jazz but that is mostly because I was nearly never being exposed to it too often. If you have a suggestion for a good "entrance" of rather noisy jazz, feel free to recommend.

going from your descriptions it sounds Child Abuse is a free jazz album
Ornette Coleman is definitely a good rec in that genre
I'd also rec John Coltrane - Ascension
and if you're looking for a similar sounding thing outside of jazz there's
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica

i personally favor that kind of tongue-in-cheek attitude in noisy/heavy music. It's when it gets too self-serious and not self-aware that i personally feel it loses most of its charm.

I don't really have a preference in attitude, for me it's really a matter of execution and consistency and I personally feel that the attitude helped the album in both areas
