Good, but a little bit boring.

I just can't stand almost any '80s rock so it's why I'm having a lot of trouble enjoying this the way I want to. I think Coheed has been far catchier in the past but they did make a solid album here with some catchy choruses. I just wish I liked it more. :/

I wish you did too... it completely threw off my ranking of their albums. As of now I think it stands at:
GAIBS4
IKSSE:3
SSTB
NWFT
Vaxis 1
Afterman (I consider them one product)
YOTBR
TCBTS

I'll go:
IKSOSE:3 - 10/10
SSTB - 10/10
GAIBS IV - 9.5/10
Ascension - 9/10
NWFT - 7.5/10
YOTBR - 6.5/10

'You're probably in the extreme minority here'
I'm pretty sure i am, but i really liked the previous more diverse record. This one sounds like rehashing of the ideas of GAIBS and NWFT, even the production sounds kinda the same, but the hooks are not as big as on those records.
Maybe my music tastes have changed dunno. I used to love Coheed but i couldn't finish a single track here.

In Keeping Secrets
Good Apollo

Unheavenly Creatures
Afterman
YOTBR
TCBTS
I love all of them though. I even listened through YOTBR and TCBTS yesterday and found them highly enjoyable.

This album lacks identity inside the Coheed universe which shocks me because the singles made me have higher expectations than what resulted. It's a super strong collection of 5 minute songs tho.
Outside the Coheed universe 5/5
Inside the Coheed universe 3.1/5
In its time 4.0/5
Out of its time 3.6/5

In conclusion, sputnik historians will acknowledge this was a 3.9 at best and that the userbase was correct in giving it an average of 3.8. Please don't call this album epic anymore.

This has been growing on me the more I listen to it. It might get bumped to a 3.5 but I feel like almost every song has something I really don't like for everything that I do like. The good outweighs the bad but it's keeping me from truly loving a few of the tracks.
That said, It Walks Among Us has one of the best choruses Coheed has ever written and I keeping playing it over and over on repeat. It's actually becoming a problem for me.

"I think "Toys" might for real be the perfect Coheed and Cambria song."
totally agree with this. I personally love that song.
but does anyone else hate the weird horizontal digipack shit they packaged it in? it's awkward and has no marking/title on the spine

Glass It Walks Among Us is the best song on the album no one ever mentions. Could even be my favorite at times.
As a whole I would say the album is "SlightlyEpic".
