New album is so good, but at times I think I'm listening to The Mars Volta, which isn't a bad thing.

i think it's better than Mental Knife but i can't help but feel a bit disappointed?

i feel like these guys and shorter songs aren't the best match.

good album. it feels like they are trying to cultivate everything they've done into a more concise format and idk, it feels lacking??? like Solipsism just ended so abruptly that i felt like I didn't get anything out of it.

also for as much as I like Made Your Mark, it was not placed well in the track list.

there are moments of absolute brilliance, which i'll get to, but this still just feels like they've generally watered themselves down which makes them feel kind of predictable.

Slander has to be the best example of what this band can achieve right now with this more cohesive style. Hysteriantics is also exactly the batshit I want to hear from them. I liked the volta vibes in Misfire. Punch Drunk had a sick last minute or so.

gonna listen again. it's obviously good but idk, i still think they can do/have done much better

the soundoff that this is a better DGD than DGD is 100% accurate. Domino and Slander are a wild 1-2 punch, I have a feeling I'm going to love this

I think the new one easily tops this, and idk I've never felt like these guys were that similar to DGD. Always felt like more of the Circa Survive/Saosin vein of core

yeah the new one is 3.5-4

its biggest weakness, like most swancore, is it's homogeneous AF but the short runtime ends up helping

Yeah, that's the thing with swancore

You need like 4 albums and just shouldn't bother with the rest

Haven't checked anything from these guys since Wake, album art looks very reminiscent so I'm hoping for some songs like Human Target Practice

Culture Scars = Secret Wars > Wake > Elaphantitis > New Age Filth > Mental Knife atm for me

but I have like all of em at 4's except the top 2 i believe.

also yeah, i think these guys are definitely part of the whole swancore thing but are far more similar to Circa than DGD.
