Still such an awesome album and, as I'm sure Eg would agree on without being self-referential, the best thing to come out of Denmark.

Top 3 at least. What else... King Diamond. Errr and Lars Ulrich? That feels wrong.

I really like it when artists link the tracks together so they flow as one, definitely adds to the album experience. This is a stellar example of that idea.

Ah yeah the sequencing would be the main highlight here if it weren't for those last two tracks

the end of Apocalypso is one of the most powerful pieces of music I've ever heard

The riff on Circuitry of the Wolf is absolutely filthy, got my attention right away. The rest rules as well.
Fav track is probably Apocalypso

Circuitry of the Wolf is a bit of a red herring opener, but undoubtedly slaps

I think it fits with the general vibe of atmospherics and angular guitar work that's prevailent throughout the album personally but I can see why you'd say that tbf

Good bump
But what is an angular riff? I have often wondered.

my own definition goes along the lines of sharp note hits with a distinct lack of noise strumming while using a pick. kinda like each note is a forte, kind of like if an android was playing guitar. I dunno, it's just how I use the defintion and I wouldn't be surprised if there's an actual defintion that is different from mine XD

It certainly sounds ‘angular’ to me, but although it fits in with my expectations of that word, I actually have no idea how to describe it (or whether this is technically correct, lol).

the riffs i would call/see referred to as 'angular' (including the ones here) are sharply articulated and usually unsustained to the point that their percussiveness is as striking as the melody, or more so. sortof what osmark said - ig the case study bands would be Shellac and Fugazi, but it suits Mew p well when they kick it out

‘Angular’ did spring to mind while I was jamming Shellac yesterday 👍
Good to know.

those guitar harmonies (gutairmonies!) on "apocalypso"!

Bloody hell. This is great as well!

Indeed. Band went to shit after No More Stories though

What happened? No longer have the melodies? Get way too wanky?
