This is surprisingly gonna make my top 25. Keep coming back to it and enjoying it a little more.

Just Breathe and Beyond the Pines are the only two that I unequivocally love. And even Beyond the Pines feels like it needs a little something.

It's the ending. Beyond the Pines just blue balls you at the end by having that obscenely long fade out when you were really expecting the song to explode

only us and the grey are cool. just breathe has a nice feel but is a lil unmemorable. beyond the pines starts ok but nothing happens in it. branch in the river is the albums best vocal performance but sounds like a fucking demo
and the rest sucks

I still love The Grey.

Branch in the River gets my vote for worst vocal performance on the album, possibly their discography too.

I don't know if I've had a band drop off for me as much as Thrice has, I have absolutely no desire to listen to any Thrice anymore, which sucks because I used to be super into them :[

Branch in the River isn't remotely as bad as some of the vocals on Identity Crisis lol. Production on the other hand... yikes. I'm convinced there's a good song there but the production is definitely the worst of any song they've put out on an official album.

the track with Emma Ruth Rundle was good. the rest I barely remember

The production on this whole album is bad. Drums sound terrible.
My love for Beyond the Pines is mostly for the fact that its lyrics actually feel like Dustin is writing in his top form again. That chorus is just poetry.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Identity Crisis and I love it despite all of its blemishes. Dustin just sounds so fucking burnt out on Branch. That, or he’s totally half assing it on that final vocal take

this album degraded every prior thrice record for me. it feels like they either betrayed their former selves or never held their values in high regard. i view this as a full sellout album. they were my favorite band for the longest time but there's just no attachment or appreciation left, although that's also related to me broadening my horizon beyond high school post-hardcore bands.

I'd be okay with the drum production here if it wasn't for the kick drum. It just sounds like a muffled, non-descript thud.

A new edit of Hold Up A Light was put up on Spotify. Not sure what else is different besides a few less "hold up a light"s and maybe some little guitar effects I don't recall being there.
Song is still dreadful tho
