And they just had to cancel their Oct 6th show and change it to....May 17th 2020?! Promoter problems with their tour, and I imagine their Visas didn't help with rescheduling another tour immediately, so it got pushed 7 months
But! Wow. I actually really dig this album now. I'm not sure why. I cam back to it minus all the hype I had, already forgetting how disappointed I was, and gave it an unbiased full listen and I actually loved it. Rating changed. Lots of fun tracks on here. Love the production too. Complete 180 here.

This cancelled tour was cos of Monuments' management not applying for US visas in time. So the band fired their managers and postponed the tour.

OMG thank you, I couldn't find the full story from any promoters or internet gossip until now. So this was Monuments' managers fault. Good god if you're a UK based band about to tour, isn't applying for Visas like THE big thing the manager has to worry about? You had one job...enjoy the door lmao.

Oh wow, I was completely unaware of this situation occurring.

Yeah the management team royally fucked up. According to the band they applied for visas so late that if all went perfectly smoothly the band would have gotten their visas literally the day before they had to leave for tour. Naturally the band was not pleased and made the decision to postpone the tour rather than take their chances with the consulate, especially in this political climate.

Some positive news, Skyharbor is working on album 4 already.

That's good to hear. At least they aren't letting this put a damper on their plans.

What's even better is that it's 99.999% certain Anup is going to rejoin as their drummer.

I'm not gonna lie, the band is hella underwhelming live. Tompkins had stage presence, but I've seen them with Emery twice and the dude struggles to sing Tompkins' songs (not sure why, I'm pretty sure he has better vocal range) and the band as a whole doesn't have a lot of charisma. Last time I saw them was with Toothgrinder and Toothgrinder OWNED them... :/

They've got a bit of nervous energy when they play live. Probably needed to find their groove a little with the lineup changes.

Oh dang when was the last time you saw them? You'd think after a couple years of touring together they'd have found that groove already?

I saw them back in 2013 with Tompkins then in 2016 and 2018 with Emery. Emery definitely improved between 2016 and 2018, but the band as a whole just seems to lack something.

Huh. Rest of the band? Are they just sorta passive/in their own world while playing? Nothing put a crowd to sleep faster than a band without a shit ton of energy on stage who play off of each other.

Sitar:
Eric has stated before that he gets really bad anxiety on stage, and it affects his performance. Hopefully it's something he'll grow out of in time, because the dude can sing, no doubt.
Honestly, I think the loss of Anup hurts way worse than the loss of Dan. Don't get me wrong, Dan is awesome (and my all-time favorite vocalist), but Eric is hardly the issue here. The drumming on this record just isn't that good compared to the previous 2 records.
I think what hurts this record most is actually the production/mixing. These songs are doing quite a bit more than they seem to be doing on the surface, but you're not going to hear it unless you've a $1000+ audio rig.
That, and sometimes this sounds like Linkin Park pretending to be Skyharbor, or vice-versa.
Hopefully they get back to writing Skyharbor songs for LP4.

On Instagram live, Eric and Keshav mentioned they're trying to bring Anup back into the fold, though he's incredibly busy.
But there is a very good chance he will rejoin Skyharbor full-time time now that he's not in Intervals.

Man can you imagine them making another record with Anup? That would be insane. Fingers crossed he comes back. What about their current drummer though?

But at this point Anup is one of the hottest sessions drummers around. Touring with Skyharbor and being a full-time member would probably mean passing up other more lucrative opportunities that come his way, and I can understand why he wouldn't be super keen on it.
This intercontinental band business, while cool in concept, has hindered the band quite a bit I think. I don't know if Devesh is a US citizen or resident, or even if he's still living in the US, but if they're replacing their current drummer they probably need to figure out how to streamline the logistics of having members have to apply for work visas no matter where they go in the world, and how to all actually spend time together while recording music.
|
| |
Is Devesh still in this band? Jammed with him occasionally in Boston but don’t keep in touch or follow the band
|
| |
As far as I know he's still in the band. I think they let the drummer go, though.

Yeah their most recent drummer, Aditya, is no longer with them. Rest of the lineup is the same though.
