Yeah I just realized that a few days ago, he’s played more live shows as well. Pretty crazy.

I like the older AIC vibes on this record, some of the songs are definite growers(maybe), and others kick serious ass from the start(rainier fog, red giant). With more listens I wouldn’t be surprised if I considered this their best work with DuVall but for now that honor will have to remain with The devil put dinosaurs here.

"Weird to think that DuVall has been involved with AIC longer than Layne was"

Jerry Cantrell is such a legend, man. Love his guitar work so much. Even if his best days are far behind him, he can write a riff or two.

yeah no kidding man. The songwriting isn’t the most interesting it’s ever been, and vocally it isn’t as inspired as their older work, but there isn’t a single throwaway riff on this thing.

Honestly, i keep exploring their new albums only because of him. His guitar playing and the way he blends musical styles had always been on of the most interesting aspects of this band. And nowdays, it's their only "strength" i'm afraid.

How awesome are "Drone" and "Maybe". The latter song is the closest they sound to their classic period. And that's a good thing imo.

For real. The interview he did about it only made me like it more. He wrote and recorded it in Studio X outside of Seattle, it’s about Layne and Chris Cornell.

The albums grown on me tremendously. Red Giant, Drone, and Never Fade are among their best.

Alice in Chains is one of the few bands who made better music after their reunion than before it.

not sure if i stand by that, this is below their quality standard and the production here feels a bit lifeless
