idles is the only important punk band of our generation

they're not that important. just pretty good (but not classic) tunes, great performances and mediocre social commentary.

yes btmi but not titus. i like titus but their impact has been minimal.

ging nang boyz have an incredible impact in the lives of anyone who hears them which is unfortunately not many ppl in the west

i mean they're good lyrics but if the metric is social importance then it's all just pretty obvious observations expressed quite directly and with relative simplicity

also i am not white at all

if you think any of the political messages in the lyrics here are obvious and overstated, even you don't know how much british politics are tearing up their livelihood. this is a real record for people that are going through real problems, plus every song here is crafted and structured incredibly well. this album is a masterclass of its kind, and i hope there are more albums like it. fuck theresa may, and fuck the new suit and tie with the Trump bowl cut

ah to be fair, im not british and i can see this hitting much harder on the home turf than other places (most important punk band in the world rn is a stretch, but most important band in the uk is very believable). have y’all heard sleaford mods (the band that zak’s always goin on about)? they seem to tap into similar localized issues with incredible potency

how in the absolute flying flamingo fuck is We Cool? boring by any measure, “You, In Weird Cities” is a top 5 punk song of the decade, and the last two tracks are some of the most emotionally gutting punk songs of that year
