^^^^I know exactly what you mean. I haven't heard the entire album yet, but what I have heard I think is pretty good. So now those damn scene kids are doing the "I told you so". So I just call them Communists and then I win.

Great review. As a big fan of They're Only Chasing Safety i was indeed hopping for more melodics and soft vocal performance. Screaming has gotten better with added depth, but they're shying to much away from singing. I this album may have been a result of the old Underoath fan base attacking TOCS for "selling out to mainstream." I hate it when people are so closed minded. Softer doesn't neccessarily mean worse. I think the sound of the last album really worked for them and they might have been restricting themselves a bit on this one by deliberately steering clear of mainstreem. Still a good album, but i would have liked to see them embrace the feel TOCS a little more.

Jeeez, this album is really good. And I'm surprised how well it's doing on the charts. I mean, in all these HMV music stores I see this album high on the chart. I just hope these kids don't get this album to be "hardcore". It's worth being on the chart, but the album has been so hyped... that could've factored it's success.

Eh, even after reading a very good review...I still don't like these guys at all, nor do I want to purchase this album.
These days, I could make an album off of sounds of my bodily functions and sell 500K easily.
This is so true that I almost urinated.

dude, if you have only heard the single, then how do you know that you don't like this album? this is such a departure from TOCS that it's not even funny. why don't you just listen to the album and then tell us you hate it, atleast that way you'll have a point that makes more sense than "i haven't listened to this album, but i hate it because i don't like old underoath". it is ok to like stuff that other people like, you know.

and the other songs you've heard are...? alot of the people who hate underoath like this album, to me that is a pretty good indication of how good this album actually is.

that isn't really having an open mind, now is it? besides, this album is not hardcore, it's more metalcore than anything else. i noticed that one of you're favorite bands is KsE, so based off of that, you should like this album because it is rather KsE like. I do understand your picky ness (pickiness?) though, i am the same way, i wont listen to rap, country, or anything outside of rock. This Message Edited On 07.20.06

I sit and think "So let me get this straight: someone heard this and liked it. Then a record label liked it so much, they paid them to record this s***". Not just these guys, but a lot of music. Most music actually.

Like Mudvayne?

this album was the exact opposite of a dissapointment to me. and im happy to say it. except for a few songs (salmanir, to whom it may concern and casting such a thing shadow were good except for the long intros and boring nothingness)

oh my bad :D...i like it when they start singing/screaming/rocking...ya know..but the the instrumentalness is just a little too drawn out.

The instrumentals are drawn out as to build tension. All the "rocking" wouldn't be as good without it.

They're only chasing safety is so much better than this.

And it's not even that good.
