There's reviews out already for the album and it sounds like this is by far their softest album. Although they are saying Rapture is one of the "softest".

It's the overall song structure that has me worried, though. So far all we've seen is bland riffs and verse chorus verse chorus bridge .. zZzzzZzz

I get the hate that Rapture has received, but I really liked it. It's very different for them, but I think it was executed well. Aaron and Chris did a great job of creating the atmosphere and Spencer sounded really good even without the screams. sounded like a logical progression of Disambiguation/Broken Compass with some BMTH thrown in there. Still I'm super hyped for this album.

It's a logical progression of That's the Spirit

Sounds like progression eh? It sounds like a Sleepwave b-side. Spencer has done this exact same song before but far better in songs like The Wolf and Through The Looking Glass. If they are going this direction at least step up the instrumentalization.

Also if I'm going to listen to someone sing for an entire song I'll take Aaron all day long.

Based off of these two songs I'm gonna go ahead and assume that Aaron is barely featured on the album, which is lame af.

Edit* I don't see how this song is BMTH inspired in any way at all though. Or did BMTH also somehow magically inspire Sleepwave long before That's the Spirit ever came out?

in completion is enough proof that Spencer is better

I mean I was more so talking Sempiternal, because On My Teeth sounded very Sempiternal

Damn, when I saw them (UO) w/BMTH last year I never would have thought that UO would be influenced by BMTH's mainstream alt rock/pop inclinations. Disappointing. Anyone who sees this as a natural progression from Disambiguation (their heaviest album?) needs new ears.

Spencer needs so many synths to cover up the fact that he can barely hit his notes and stay on key.

I don't mind him singing a verse from time to time but to state he's better than Aaron is lulz worthy. Spencer has the best uncleans in the business and he should stick to what he's good at.

Underoath is at their best with 2 vocalists.

Again, does nobody even know Sleepwave exists? How is there any indication any of this has been inspired by BMTH when Spencer was doing this long before BMTH even went poppy.

Are you not reading the threads? People are complaining that it sounds more like Sleepwave than it does Underoath lmao

And for the record the better songs off of That's the Spirit (Avalanche, Drown, etc) absolutely crap all over Rapture so if indeed that's what they were going for, they didn't imitate very well. I can rock Avalanche all day long, I don't see this song catching on any time soon.. it's just so forgettable.

And I've seen the BMTH comparison brought up 5x more than Sleepwave. I've literally seen that exact same thing typed a dozen times between here, reddit, KL, on and on.. "underoath toured with BMTH hurr durr now they copying them!!11"

I really liked Sleepwave. Yes, I still think BMTH's success with That's The Spirit and Underoath being directly exposed to that via the tour they did together last year influenced the songs they've put out (so far). At least as far as being willing to put something out that's a bit more mainstream sounding. Sleepwave was great and that sound was **more** acceptable there because it was Spencer's solo stuff. Now, I'm all for band's changing, but Underoath seems like they're going in the wrong direction.
