Yeah, I can get why some aren't fans of this and that's completely fine, I can agree that there aren't too many moments that truly stand out on their own, but as a whole, it's kinda like Riala for me in where the sound of the music itself just connects with me in a way that is truly special. My first listen to this was in the evening under a pink sky. When the chorus to Space Academy hit that moment was nothing short of perfect and that goes for almost every song here (the intro to "I Catapult" and its chorus, the ending of "Tunguska," etc.). Maybe if I had listened to it in a different environment I would have felt differently but I highly doubt it. It's a sound that just pushes all the right buttons.
I think what the "haters" need to understand is that they're trying to convince those who love this that it's an objectively average record. Maybe they're right. I can admit that my personal taste can possibly blind me from seeing how average this record really is. But personal taste is what's important and I think that's where most of us are coming from. Justify your opinions but understand why this connects with us as much as it does.
