I mean I love indie stuff but these dudes like aren’t good at it. Could always get better though so it’s not like I’m gonna write them off after this.

I don't know man, their shoegaze sections on Sunbather and New Bermuda are easily some of my favorite moments this band does. Keep in mind I have yet to hear this. Waiting for a 320 rip

I think the shoegaze parts are amazing I wasn’t really including that lol. I guess I meant the more “alt rock” parts of this album. Ugh idk maybe I went into this with too high of expectations but it’s Deafheaven so.

A 3 is feeling right for now but I’m hoping more listens will help this click a bit more

There's so much detail and interesting places this album goes without relying on recycled thrash riffs and things like that on New Bermuda. [3]
Definitely never expected a goth Depeche Mode-like track out of these guys.

This band and I will never get along and I am a master of this genre.

Hey Chamberlain, I'm finally reading through this review and I really think you can do better.
As a few people have already pointed out, the first two paragraphs are kind of ugh to read. Not necessarily because of your writing, but just because that whole divisive subject is kind of played out, especially in regards to Deafheaven.
Shorter songs such as “Near” are emotive standouts where the most complex feature is merely smothering unhurried waves of timbre guitars...
Timbre is a noun, not an adjective. Using it to describe the guitars doesn't make sense.
Whereas New Bermuda felt like a reaction to Deafheaven’s criticism in 2013 by emphasising their beefier riffs and appearing obliquity heavy, this feels like a mature shrug, a tilted smile directed at those who the band have accepted will never accept them.
This is passage is very confusing. I think I get what you mean (that New Bermuda beefed things up as a reaction to Sunbather) but the phrasing is off. Obliquity heavy doesn't make sense here either. What's a mature shrug?
Previous albums oversee the band penetrating dark and furious soundscapes with stabs of blinding light containing raw, yearning emotion.
*oversaw
Arguably, herein lies why the album never reaches a truly cathartic climax; the as the constant sense of wistfulness and sorrow keeps the intensity anchored beneath the emotional level that “Sunbather” established.
Hunh?
Influenced by the novel The End of the Affair written by Graham Greene, which examines obsession, jealousy and discernments within love, “Ordinary Corrupt Human Love” creates a tangibly loving, tender mood throughout the album that is pierced by sharp and impactful blows, creating distance between the romanticised feelings, reminiscent of real life and love which is, assumedly, exactly what the band set out to achieve.
That sentence is way too long.
I feel like I can kind of glean what you are trying to say throughout most of this, but it seems like some really careless errors were made. It feels very rushed, which I get considering this is big album and getting the first review out feels crucial, but I think it's equally important to proof. Hopefully this doesn't seem too harsh, but like I said before I know you can do better :]

Cheers for the criticism folks. This was a rushed review which I didn't plan on covering originally but I haven't written in a while and the new Errorzone was already covered. I'll edit it when I have time.

I recently learned that Americans say "rose-coloured glasses" and not "rose-tinted glasses". Tsk.

First song sounds busy but with nothing impactful going on. Hoping the rest isn't like this

The 2nd half of the album is much better than the 1st imo. 'Near' all the way to the end of 'Worthless Animal' is quite the musical journey.
