always good to see this project get attention - absolutely insane the idea of making such a landmark record as a teenager
it does always bug me though how this album overshadows the rest of the guy's work in the sense that 95% percent of attention directed at him is going here

Do it ins. This and post self are the essential recs, but all their work is so consistent

I've always thought Hymns was their most underrated/overlooked. It's a hidden gem imo, it's actually what got me made me love the band in the first place

Idk, I've always thought it was considering it's hardly "industrial" metal and more hard rock/heavy metal

it's still technically them but yea it's not as 'industrial' as their other works. it has its gems that deserve playlist inclusions.

that album is Godflesh through-and-through to me, just with a bit more of a palatable groovy-ness and obviously swapping the classic drum machine sound for Brain

Great review for a great album. This band and the works of Carcass and Napalm Death really were the bands over in the UK that carried me through those late 80s early 90s moments when I wasn’t sure where heavy and crushing metal was heading.
Pure is really their magnum opus IMO and Selfless has some really awesome moments. Slave State also a very underrated title - that’s when JK decided to incorporate much more electronics in his art.
