At worst it feels out of place. I'd say reorder without that track but there's only 10 songs so...

I can't get the same energy that I got with her debut. There are some really good tracks, "Patricia" specially, but the senseless belting out here gets her nowhere.

you say "senseless belting" like she doesn't have an incredible voice

I’m only familiar with her big single Shake it out, but I’m not impressed by this effort. Was waiting for a big hook, anything to drag me into this ... the best things she has going is a great big voice and some really good lyrics. The music is the hang up for me, it’s not particularly inspired or interesting and is completely dependent on what was above me called “senselsss belting”. Seems like a waste of some really great talent for this not to be a better album.

This was better on 2nd listen, initially didn't think it was going to get a third spin but will now need to give it a fair few more goes

I love her first one so fucking much, but I just can't get into this one for some reason.

the end of 'June' is epic

this could grow on me, but i enjoyed the maximalism of how big how blue and the more subdued path here doesn't quite click as much for me. june and patricia are gorgeous though.

Decided to listen to this after being impressed with Hunger and love the album. I've always kinda dismissed Florence but now I'm curious to listen to their past albums.

I think Florence Welch is Annie Lennox in desperate need of a Dave Stewart.

" i enjoyed the maximalism of how big how blue "
weird, I thought that album was, by and large, too restrained. this is pretty restrained but it's so much more consistent than HBHBHB

I generally find her songwriting inconsistent, but there are usually one or two on every album that I like a lot. There's none of that here. These feel very loosely written musically, like they're mostly just an excuse for her to do what she wants to do with her voice. I get that these are very personal lyrics for her, but I don't care about the lyrics unless you put them into a decent song.
I also notice that although this album has done very well with the critics, there's a bit of a falloff with the general public. The sales are down on this one compared to her previous efforts, and even though it charted high, even that's a little lower than her first three albums.

The chorus to The End of Love is still absolutely sublime, in case anyone was wondering

This album is woefully underrated on this site. Might be her best work honestly. It's at least tied with Ceremonials.

for sure a classic
