I don't lose sleep over it. It just brings a weird element of music being objectively good or bad into the mix.
@Adolf I consider it FFIV, it's a dope game. I'm playing the OG FF rn on my Vita.

ah, I gotcha, never thought about it that way

That thing is pretty damn dumb to be honest. Thankfully, most of the time albums with high ratings are at least a 2.0... most of the time.
|
| |
Agreed it's dumb
|
| |
It's so certain albums with universal acclaim don't get demoted to lower overall averages due to a bunch of troll accounts, but there are some highly praised albums around that I think are genuinely bad

Then write a 1.0 review for them.

the real question is how do we combat troll 5s
|
| |
Yeah, anyone that wants to should be able to 1.5 or 1.0 this.

Agreed.

If I have to do a full write-up to justify my rating everybody should have to regardless of their scores.
|
| |
Big agree. It wouldn't be a great idea (or maybe it would be), but there should be no exceptions; people should always make a review, or they should always be able to give the rating they want to even if they don't write a review.

If everyone was able to 1 and 0.5 then this would become rym where seemingly half the database is full of users where most of their ratings are 2-0.5

I was one of those users tbh. It was nice.

positive rating system?
|
| |
Nah, I never liked that, I just like to listen to both good and bad stuff regularly, to keep a balance I guess. Most of my ratings were 2.0s or 2.5s though, but I definitely had more 0.5-1.5 ratings than 4.0-5.0 ones, a lot more... And now I'm getting close to that even here, uh.

"I just like to listen to both good and bad stuff regularly, to keep a balance I guess"
is this some kind of mental condition?
i dont understand why anyone would willingly subject themselves to things that they know they couldnt possibly enjoy. unless of course they were a paid professional (critic in this case) in that field
but no everyone on the internet wants to prove they're so smart
