Yeah, I love seeing black people play metal/punk/hardcore/heavy shit. Wish there were more of us but like, it'd be hard to force it so you take what you can get. Like for a lot of black people, it's not their culture and they probably wouldn't like it much. But I just want everybody that could possibly be into the shit to be exposed to it. Saw a live vid of a War Metal band with black guitarist in it once. Maybe Beherit but I'm not positive. Threw me off though cause black metal and it's subgenres can be pretty racist.
btw, props to the guitarist for having a Glassjaw cap on.

@MillionDead I remember reading an interesting interview with Stevis Harrison (ex-Chariot, now FEVER 333) about what it's like to be black in the hardcore scene which claims to be super inclusive and stuff. I was looking for it the past 15 minutes or so, but couldn't find it. Sorry! Maybe you are lucky and find it by some accident.

the big issue with the audiotree session is for whatever reason they mixed the backing vocals so low they're practically inaudible.
also agree with the fact that seeing black people in hardcore bands is cool. there is a lot of talent out there but the scene is pretty white! would be good to not just claim to be inclusive, but *actually* include people. especially cool that these guys are from the boston area. this area isn't exactly known for its integration/inclusion of minorities.

word. I would also like to see more women in the scene. Reba from Code Orange and Eva Spence from Rolo Tomassi are some prime examples...it brings the so much needed fresh wind to the scene, if it gets more diverse.

What genre(s) in rock are the most split in terms of members of bands and fans being men & women?
|

Any genre with a keyboardist basically lol

Lmao that's so true. Like post punk, goth, power metal, symphonic metal, darkwave, new wave, etc all typically have a healthy amount of girl fans. It just seems like alt girls just love synths, almost as a rule.
