The title track has become my favourite recently but completely agree with "If I Were You." Great jam.

Why is this album's average lower than Black Lines.
What the fuck

Black Lines tried and greatly succeeded at something new. Sunnyland strictly sticks to Mayday's playbook. Regardless, you're right and this should have the higher rating.

See I don't agree with your second sentence, I feel that while the overall sound sticks to Mayday's playbook, they took the best parts of Black Lines and incorporated it onto this album. The problem with Black Lines was not the new melancholy approach, nor was it the drastic departure from the upbeat pop punk sound, it was frankly the songwriting and production issues. Sunnyland is still somewhat of a dark album (darker than everything other than Black Lines at the very least), but it's more of a nostalgic darkness, the feeling that summer is ever so slowly creeping away and that light that made your childhood so wonderful is being snuffed out by reality.

Eh I get no dark vibes from sunnyland, the album is just as bright as ALIR imo tbh. I agree the songwriting lacked a bit on a lot of the black lines track though.
I just feel that this was a super safe album, and that is completely fine because it is good!

black lines has a great sound and two or three of their best songs on it but otherwise yea it’s kind of lacking in places

I don't listen to pop punk often nor this band but I'm looking for bands to catch at warped this weekend and 3 songs in, I'm digging this far more than I expected

most of the rest wasn't AS good but still solid/enjoyed the album. If I Were You and Looks Red, Tastes Blue were pretty great actually

if you liked those check the debut it’s amazing. it’s the best of this but way catchier and with nonstop dual vocals

A Lesson In Romantics is one of the best albums in this genre.

the chorus of Looks Red, Tastes Blue has been in my head all day. it's so satisfying and has this borderline grand effect.

Bumping this up to a four because it really is a consistent record. Sits just below their debut for me.

"I don't listen to pop punk often"
says the biggest Icarus the Owl fanboy on this site
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Icarus is their own breed of pop punk, I don't really listen to stuff like TWY, TSSF, Yellowcard, and yano the bands that people really associate the genre with.
but that's way besides the point, I'm just so happy that I have that title, thanks bro

dissapointed these guys are only playing a couple tracks off this on warped, might be catching the final one for shits and gigs

I'm not even gonna bother with the final warped tbh, I was originally going to go for BVB and Mayday but honestly it's just not worth the money, I'm glad it's shutting down, and I'm not surprised it's shutting down considering 2016 and 2017 were disasters.

Onion, I saw all of em when I went and they were all great save for my time with Mayday but that was right after ETID and I was incredibly drained so that's not really giving them a fair juudgement
