@Sowing: sweet, hope you dig it!
still surprised you hadn't heard them before

I am beginning to grow super confused about what Sowing has and hasn't heard.

I tend to fixate on a few bands at a time, so if Mayday Parade was not one of the bigger pop-punk names out there - or they rose up late (late being after pop-punk was actually popular) - then that'd be why. Hell, I hadn't heard a Wonder Years album until Sister Cities.

nothing wrong with that, haha. I know the feeling of trying to digest too much music at once
am curious to hear if you dig them at all though!

If Sowing doesn't rate this 3.5 or above I'll eat my hat...or someone else's hat...
Can I borrow a hat?

I listened already and...it's incredible. Not gonna try and hype it too much as I tend to, but I might prefer this to Sister Cities, which I gave a 4-something. The back half of this album especially rules; 'How Do You Like Me Now' is already sounding like one of those pop punks songs you jam all summer long.

The last two songs are probably why I keep coming back to this. I was turned off by the ballads at first but they are musically interesting and growing on me.

Satellites is the best one I think. By quite a long shot. I think it’s one of their best songs.
I like this more than Sister Cities too. I hyped up Sister Cities too much after my first listen and then came back and decided it really wasn’t nearly as good as I thought it was. This one has held up after multiple listens.

Yeah Satellites is probably the best song agreed

I love you more for rec'ing this. Easily a 4, so I'll probably start there, but feels like there could be more if I really connect with it.

Surprised you didn't get to this eariler, Sowing, it's pretty darn great. Not as strong as my initial listens led me to believe but definitely top ten of the year so far.

Didn't it just come out 5 days ago? Or do you mean the band in general (in which case yeah, not sure what I was thinking...) Hope this grows on me, not off like it did for you.

hell yeah sowing
I’d argue that aside from anywhere but here (which is still okay) everything is worth jamming from them so you might as well go chronologically with them. be sure to throw in their debut ep too the vocal harmonies on that thing are stunning

ugh i guess i should give this a shot

I haven't even heard Black Lines or the one before that
and hey Cyg ;) do you like any of their old stuff?

Band in general, yeah. Their debut would be right up your alley, too.

Sowing TWY is exactly what I was referring to. I always just assumed you had probably heard most of these types of pop-punk bands. If you liked this you definitely need to check out A Lesson in Romantics (these guys debut).
They didn't necessarily miss when this type of pop-punk was huge. These guys got big just 1 year after Fall out Boy released From Under the Cork Tree.

and hey Cyg ;) do you like any of their old stuff? they were my favorite band in the universe back in '08-'09. i can sing every song from their first 2 albums and most of the 3rd (bad) one too.

I can't believe you guys are rating this so highly, after first listen I am completely underwhelmed. The vocal hooks are terrible imo. Maybe it grows.
