Would be cool if his next record was just bm with slight black gospel influences. Hit me with that black gospel metal good sir

Agree with both of you, more BM and the chanting on top would be incredible.

"This sounds like the music to the roadside chain gang bit of O brother where art thou then suddenly someone drives past playing bad black metal"

anyone else feel second hand embarrassment when they listen?

There are moments where this almost reaches Gloryhammer levels of cringe.

I saw three songs of this live at a festival and then left to go get a pasty

The most overrated band in recent memory.

Bm with spirituals vox instead of European-style folk would be killer.

About half way through this.. What the hell is this lol

Oof.. Interesting, but overall not good. Songwriting felt all over the place, imagine dragons parts were kinda cringey. Black metal parts were pretty good and I wish they utilized the chanting stuff with them more. Will be a cool opener for the Baroness Deafheaven tour I guess.

"Interesting, but overall not good"
Just how I feel about it, trying to be new and innovative for the sake of it without trying to actually make good music.

Album is a fucking chore and a mess, but it has some pieces that hit hard. Bet with album 3 they'll go hugely popular, as this has all the stuff to make it to the top of hipsterlandia
should be a 3.5 in my books but just because the mashup is so histerical I'll give a bonus
don't you dare is a fucking banger

'Just how I feel about it, trying to be new and innovative for the sake of it without trying to actually make good music.'
The music isn't good because the musicians aren't trying to make good music. High quality music criticism right here.
