i know i'm not toad but while i wanna say you won't enjoy this pots, it has a lot of direct elements from his previous albums like Replica, Returnal, and R+7 so you might enjoy it in bits and pieces

i just relistened GoD and it's so much more consistent lol... still, this is so fucking good at times.

rabid - yeah, this won't trump GoD, that album was just so in your face with its genius, it totally blew me away
this does sound like a jumble of half-remembered stuff he's worked on before and then refracted in loads of different directions, I'd like to think you might end up bumping this to a 4... :D

GoD was his version of a 'rock album' - by that I mean it was more in your face, more ego, noisier, all the tracks seemed linked in a sort of mockery of convention. Genius album, one of the five best of the last five years no question.

i appreciate that but musically it wasn't what i wanted from him.
r plus seven is one of my personal favorites of all time

I enjoy R Plus Seven and this album definitely contains some nods to it...it doesn't grab my attention like GoD or feel as 'just so'. It is v good though, one that I might bump to a 4.5 one day.

GoD is everything I ever wanted from music, and is easily the best album of the decade.

R+7 is nowhere near GoD imo.
GoD got this swagger and confidence. Drips class.

This sounds like a retread to RP7.

A little, esp at the start...but then it gets progressively bastardised a la GoD as it progresses
|
| |
yeah you're right. The first half is pretty light and subdued but it gets more dense and dissonant after Black Snow.
|
| |
Not really digging those vocals. We'll take it and Babylon are great though.

anohni from this point forward should only be featured on OPN tracks. she's so good on this stuff

A retread of R+7? This feels way more human to me and more geared towards baroque music. Feels so fresh. Just my cents.
Also pots I never got much of a handle on your taste but I'd say it wouldn't be a waste of your time, it's idea-rich
