''The vocals are giving me a weird Muse vibe.''
Not all the time, but you're right, Cosby.

i thought this was alright, production was absolutely gorgeous and made this so pleasant to listen to but it was extremely repetitious in terms of taking one sound/vibe too far.
fans of this should try kauan - kaiho. a little heavier but it reminded me strongly of that.

^agreed with everything you said DarkNoctus. This was cool, but I don't think I'll return to it.

I like this.

I like this fine, but I'm a fan of the vocalist... Is it just my imagination, or are their albums becoming simpler and more vocals oriented?

Demon and Night are fantastic. But this has had less of a positive reception, so I will listen with caution.

Welcome to the 2010s Twig. It seems like many artists/bands, both obscure and popular, are going in that direction these days. Steven Wilson, Kayo Dot, Dream Theater, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala sort of, the new A Perfect Circle to an extent. Still great music for the most part, but it seems to me like a weird combination of the whole 80s nostalgia trend taking hold of the music industry, general complacency, and various degrees of yearning for more sales and mainstream success, especially Wilson. To the Bone and the last few Kayo Dots are some of my favorite recent albums tho, so I'm only complaining to a certain extent.
Anyways this is very good and I like how moody and subtle it is, but none of it is spectacular or anything and it's one of their least memorable imo. I think they need to slow down with how prolific they are, it's beginning to get a bit samey imo despite how diverse their music is.

Yeah, I've noticed this with Wilson too... interesting theory. I think you're right. It is beginning to get a bit samey.

more like Regressive rock amirite

Regressive indeed! The 80s kicked prog's ass once. It would be funny if 80s nostalgia kicked it again now.

God, the bass tone and playing is sooooooo gooooood on this one. Especially the opening track and Emperor Bespoke. Good headphones give away the magic

i know what you mean. i introduced my bassist friend to this band with the song "dream of stone" and pointed out the bass. this album just continues the trend
it's always interesting, and varied, and somehow tasteful without being overbearing

Yes, that's what I mean. Tasteful without being overbearing is a nice choice of words. I don't think I've ever paid much attention to the bass on other Gazpacho albums, though.

Rappaccini is melting my heart now, I'll admit the album's getting better with time but the cohesion is still missing

Growing off me some. Vox are a lot weaker than I remembered

I'm still liking this, but I have to admit I'm listening to it more as a post-rock album than prog.

i can see that if you if listening to it more as post-rock implies listening to the album as a whole rather than as individual songs. problem is the album doesn't cohere all that well (outside of soyuz one, soyuz out, really).
i guess i'm all confused by it. the last bit of emperor's bespoke will always be beautiful tho
