Ok, this sucks. Comfortable, inoffensive & uninteresting, all the creativity from Futurology has evaporated & we're left with some standard arena rock 'anthems' devoid of anything meaningful.

Need to check this. Haven't listened to these guys in ages. Artwork rules!

Band was finished a long time ago I'm afraid. JFPL was especially poor considering all the hype surrounding it considering the Richey element.

JFPL was actually decent though, best thing they'd done since The Holy Bible.
|

It was okay, musically very weak for me.
Nothing comes close to The Holy Bible for me.

This is shit

Album could be worse than 'This is My Truth' [1.5/5] so my morbid curiosity is triggering hard

Admittedly I only listened to this once & thought it was bland, inoffensive radio/arena rock for the masses with very little to say, not offensively bad... in my book that’s a 2, a 1 seems mightily harsh. Maybe if I exposed myself to it again I’d think otherwise.

What did you think of Futurology? It was definitely more creative, inconsistent but at least they tried.

Haven't tried Futurology
[4.5] For me Holy Bible is legendary (with mild flaws)
[3.5] Generation Terrorists - good album but again flawed and overly long. It has something there though.
[3] Gold Against the Soul - a few decent tunes, still some attitude, loads of flaws though
[2.5] Journal for Plague Lovers - a bit of bite, a brave(ish) attempt at a risky album, some interesting ideas, Richey was an oddball. Some bad tunes and no classic songs though.
[2] Everything Must Go - turgid, they sound 15 years older than previous album, still some ok tunes, overall the start of the end. A different band, totally unrecognisable.
[1.5] This is My Truth - godawful, embarrassing tunes and lyrics (Nicky isn't always great at lyrics), too much MOR orchestration, Bradfield's singing is strained. A couple of ok tunes.
[1] This - Totally by the numbers, bland. Awful riffs, Bradfield's singing sounds totally without passion. Nothing close to a good song, barely any average songs, an utter turkey.
