Finally just listened to Low Tide, really good. Sounds like it will be their most "summery" album since TGG

I've never been able to get into these guys outside of a few songs from Sister Cities, so maybe this new one will be the album that finally helps me see the light

can't get into the new singles at all. touching and heartfelt as "Wyatt's Song" may be, it's kinda ass. the 'madeline' one is alright.
expectations appropriately tempered.

i have liked or loved all of the singles and thus my expectations are inappropriately untempered

kinda wild considering it's their best run of singles ever, but bafflingly misjudged music takes are as much tec's wheelhouse as good film ones so I can't act too surprised
anyways, the new album is an excellent synthesis of all their spunds and it'll be the clear choice to introduce people to this band in the future. it has a lot less Sister Cities on its DNA than I expected, but all things considered I'm not too cut up about that lol

while my ambivalence toward these particular singles might not be common consensus, you cannot tell me any off these three tracks is superior to the 'Cardinals' -> 'Cigarettes & Saints' -> 'I Don't Like Who I Was Then' run in the mid-aughts. nothing i've heard yet is remotely close to that stratum of sheer emotional power, something whose supply is rapidly dwindling in the pop-punk hemisphere every year. (or many i'm just getting too old for this shit?)

still rock my Cardinals/Cigarettes&Saints tat proudly tho.

Sister Cities had me thinking I was maybe too old for this band, but that was before I came to the conclusion that it was just a bad album lol
Singles have me stoked for the new one. Jazzed to hear Cardinals 2

"you cannot tell me any off these three tracks is superior to the 'Cardinals' -> 'Cigarettes & Saints' -> 'I Don't Like Who I Was Then' run in the mid-aughts"
Cardinals is their best and Cigs & Saints is classic, but I would comfortably slot all of the new singles above I Don't Like Who I Was Then
