songwriting is more varied here than Saor, but that's a hard sell overall

I liked the single so gonna give the new one a check later. In the worst case scenario I expect it would be as good as this one.

Another 3.5.
But The Deluge is already growing on me so let's see how it goes from here.

Good, solid mix between and Old School extreme Metal harsh and crude approach with a clean aesthetics. On this part, everything sounds in a very good way, besides the instrumental tunes could be a bit cleaner.

Very pretty record with members from Sojourner and Draconian:

Nobody really cares about this band here, but new Sojourner with new members, Chloe left ;(
The new single "Perennial" is out.

I just can't get into these guys

I got caught on The Deluge last year for good, such a good track but yeah, eternally 3.5 band. Hopefully the new one brings something better, but I doubt it.

this hit home for me but the other albums are more very good than truly great. I have to listen to the new song more...hearing someone other than Chloe on clean vox was shocking even though I knew about the change.

I just finished jamming it. Some interesting stuff. The new singer is good, although at times her voice sounds like they just layed it on top of everything and it doesn't mesh very well in the mix. The ending has some sort of group chorus that sounds really, really, good, and a killer riff, hopefully they experiment with that a bit more.

ya Emilio told me they had a "Book of the Fallen" moment so I assume that's the one. I like that they did an EP to get the new members integrated before going full-bore. that's a nice introduction/sandbox.

Interesting news and I'll need to jam that newie. I think they needed new female vox tbh. I much preferred Empires of Ash and Premonitions to TSR.
The Deluge was great as was Fatal Frame from Premonitions but if I need to be reminded how good this band is I always go back to Trails of the Earth from the debut

Only 2 tracks huh.
New singer is technically leagues better than Chloe, but they have lost a little bit of their magic without her imo. The band sounds objectively better but also closer to an exact mirror image of a lot of other bands of the same style.

yeah I agree 100%. even if the new girl has technically better range, pitch, etc, she sounds like she's singing someone else's words. Chloe's vocals had so much personality to them and felt like she meant every word of it.

I'm liking the new singer a lot more than Chloe and these two tracks are better than anything on the last album. Debut is still the best though.

Almost entirely agree Dmax but The Deluge and Fatal Frame were two ripping songs from the last that rival the 2 newies

Ok I gotta give those another listen soon. Ode to the Sovereign off this is also crazy good. I'm liking the cover for perennial...like its the debut castle but after much more time has passed? I'm liking the throwback. These guys have a really unique dreamy feeling on a lot of their stuff I dig

Nice take on those 2 album covers. Dreamy for sure. Also the different instruments and arrangements sets them apart. I’m fully on board w this band

Chloe was also a badass guitar player, so they had to get two members to cover for her. The new guitar player is also, technically, a really good singer, but again, I feel like I've heard it all before.
